[Siren Classic ManLove Erotic Alternative Sci-Fi Romance, M/M] Kyrinen was pretty sure that the world had gone to hell in a handbasket when someone tried to assassinate the president. He was positive of it when martial law was declared and armed soldiers sat on every corner. He knew it was time to get out of town and lay low before things got worse. Before he can leave, a man comes into his life who changes everything. Sebastian Haq is unlike anyone Kyrinen has ever met, even if he is his best friend's brother. For one, Haq can talk to Kyrinen through a telepathic link. When Haq starts talking about other worlds and bonds and spaceships, Kyrinen has to decide if great sex is worth having a boyfriend that is completely off his rocker. While Kyrinen just plans on getting out of town, Haq wants to get them off the planet. Can Kyrinen trust the madman or should he cut his losses and stay on Earth? ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Rating is really 3.5 stars.

I wanted to rate this book higher, because while it was no literary masterpiece (but you really shouldn't expect such in this genre) it was a great read. As I was reading the book I was totally prepared to give it five stars, and than the ending came. The book has the average editor mishaps and the occasional grammar mistake but overall up to the ending the book is probably my favorite of Glenns'. The plot had an interesting take and while the beginning was kind of jumpy I was prepared to forgive this. Than you get to the end and its just all summed up in a very short epilogue. All the character's issues, emotional upheavals, and the war all closed up (supposedly, as more than a few questions are left unanswered and several were very simple answers). I must say I was severely let down by it all. I would have been happier had this been turned into two books rather than just suddenly wrap it all up in a few paragraphs. Not to say the ending wasn't cute or enjoyable, it was, but still a let down as you are expecting more.

The two main characters were connectable, though I had a slightly hard time liking Kyrinen as he was kind of all over the place at times. Haq is perfectly likeable and you will fall in love with this starman after a few chapters into meeting him. The side characters were dismal and only Kyrinen's best friend was really likeable. Glenn does follow the story well and it isn't lost in the sex scenes as happens often in these books. I did like that the relationship wasn't just instantaneously accepted as "we are mates, and we will live happily ever after with no questions or hesitations" by Kyrinen, but than again that is one of the problems in the ending too.

Overall I would recommend this book to any fan of the m/m romance fantasy genre with a slight warning that I'm putting in a spoiler cause yeah, its a spoiler.

There is MPREG (male pregnancy) in this story, and while I actually enjoy MPREG this could have been written far better into the story. Glenn doesn't inform you how Kyrinen is having the child and you pretty much find out about the conception and than you jump to the birth. No in between about how Kyrinen dealt with being pregnant, how the only six week pregnancy (yup no waiting nine months for their race) progressed. Nope, none of that. Which is sad cause Kyrinen reacted fairly decently to finding out he may be pregnant (freaking out) and than suddenly he just accepts it in the final chapter and is having it in the epilogue.

Starman Siren Publishing Classic ManLove edition by Stormy Glenn Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This was pretty good. An interesting story, I just wish the author had time to give us more details. I dunno if there is a sequel, but I hope so, so that we can learn more about the war, the planet Eresmi and what Bobby and Angela are going to do on a new planet. Plus I want to know if Kyrinen holds true to his promise of making Haq carry their next child!
I expected more from Stormy. The first mpreg I ever read in a novel was the Katzman's Mate. I was immediately drawn to the story. This one let me down.
To short
At first I thought this would be angst ridden with poor alpha male being misunderstood and accused of being nuts and thrown in jail or psych ward. But it turns out to be about an alpha who woos and literally crosses planets as a boy to rescue and watch over his intended. Aw[...] Can read this over and over again. Subtracted a star due to ridiculous coincidences.
I love love Stormy Glenn and all her books, but some times its a hit or miss. This one was a miss, it was a gamble buying this book cuz I wasn't sold on what I read but wanted to make my own judge on it. And to tell the truth I didn't even finish it. It was very slow pace for me and I just couldn't get into it. I was disappointed in the book big time. The characters were awesome for the most part you've got your strong hero in Sebastian and your submissive sweet in Kyrinen. But like I said i didn't finish it so i don't know how it ended I stop in the middle. I couldn't read anymore of it. So big miss for this book.
This was a good story idea. But there is not a lot to it and it leaves a lot to the imagination, but not in a good way.

First off, Kyrinen connects to the alien as a child. They talk and then silence. Next we hear about Kyrinen, he's a grown up and in college. There is no discussion as to what happened to the voice or whether he ever heard it again or anything else.

The parents have died in an accident, leaving a safe deposit box that Kyrinen never looks in. Odd!

The alien shows up for no reason. How did he suddenly find Kyrinen? Unknown. He had been "looking" for 10 years or more but there is no detail as to how exactly he looked or what he did to look. Seems as if he just happened upon Kyrinen all of a sudden.

There are also just oddities. Kyrinen has his house searched by men in black. He hides under a table scared to death, calling out to Haq. Yet, when Haq shows up . . . to do what? . . . they have sex. W T F!!! People just searched your house and instead of getting away, you have sex?! Come on! Further, while the house is searched, Kyrinen managed to hide is "precious" things in the freezer. No one hears or sees him. W T F!!! And after the search, they still stick around! W T F!!!

And during their sex, Haq basically forces Kyrinen to agree to be claimed! And, of course, Kyrinen gets pregnant . . . immediately.

There is no much really written about Haq other than a physical description. He's there but is not really fleshed out.

We later learn the parents who purportedly died in the accident did not. They just left Kyrinen there while they went back to their planet. W T F!! They left their son and he was injured in the accident!

And we also learn that their planet is now safe. So why are the aliens searching for Kyrinen on earth!

And!!! they know they are in danger but stick round day after day. They could have been gone, but inexplicably stick around!

There were lots of disconnects like the above . . . as if the author forgot what she had written. The more you think about the story, the more incomplete it is.

It was a good idea. Just poorly executed. Like other reviewers wrote, the beginning was good . . . until you get to the thrown together reasons why things are happening. It needed more fleshing out.
